made sort of baked onion bhaji. Won't be baking them again, the texture was odd, and i probably lost all the "saved" hands on time trying to peel them from the foil I cooked on. And it was prolly still faster than scrubbing a cookie sheet.
Next time I'll saute/ shallow fry them.
ingredients
- medium onion, peeled and diced or sliced
- 2T oil
- 1/3C flour
- 1t curry powder
- 1T salt (give or take)
- 1/3C water (about)
saute the onions in the oil with half the salt until they're soft, floppy, and starting to brown. mix the flour and curry together, then add water, mixing all the time, to make a thick paste. Taste mix before adding salt, then add to taste.
Add cooked onion mixture to flour paste-stuff, mixing until it's all combined.
if you're braver than me, you then bake at 350f until they're done (20-30 minutes). If you're me next time, you spoon rounds into the frying pan and cook on med-hi until they're done, flipping at least once. If you're more authentic you drop by the spoon-full into boiling oil.
Honestly, that last one is the best. It's also the most expensive.
oh, and i had half a tangelo. It was yummy.
