So I finally choked down the last of them, and don't intend to make anything like that for at least... 4 days. I think it was the patty pan squish that made it odd. That and the fake ground meat stuff... Blegh.
Yeah... then I bought and ate a bag of chips. I'm actually eating chips now.
They're... pretty gross, actually. Not sure why I'm eating them.
Still lusting after broccoli. Might have to get some. Any ideas what to do with it? Otherwise, I'm thinking I might need to spend this weeks veggie money on some nice tasty avocado. Actually, I think I'm a bit behind in food money spending... I'll have to check the calendar again.
Totally not motivated to write today... or anything else, either. I think it's the chips.
The best way to make broccoli is to dice up a clove of garlic, toss it in a pan with some oil and let it brown, then add the broccoli. Turn several times to ensure proper cooking then add a bit of soy sauce. Stir a bit and turn off the heat then put the lid on and let the broccoli essentially steam itself for 4 or 5 minutes. NOM! Boy howdy is it tasty!
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite broccoli recipe comes from Ina Garten via the Amateur Gourmet via Dietgirl. Apparently my favorites like to get around.

It's basically broccoli roasted with olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper, plus lemon zest and juice. You can add some optional things like parmesan (and I would argue this isn't optional, but it probably is) pine nuts, and fresh basil. I expect you can probably play around with adding different dried herbs too, but I haven't done this yet because I like the basic recipe so much.
Rachael- That's pretty much what I normally do with it- only I add onions, too.
ReplyDeleteJL- That sounds super yummy. I haven't tried it roasted before... I'll have to add it to my list of things to try.
