Day 315- I Haz Chocolate

For Christmas dinner this year I went with Mom, the SD, and my sister to mom's friend's house. I *could* have gone with Dad and his Lady Friend to her brother's house, but decided against it. Something about ham in the beans...

Mom's friend, though, is big into slow food, and active in the local slow food scene. So there was *good* food where I went.

Oh, and it was Kinda Indian Themed, so there was a bit of curry on the turkey, basmati rice, green beans with golden raisins and almonds, fresh home-made cranberry sauce with ginger (yummy), whole wheat Naan, and a ham. For desert she made a cranberry pound cake. It was all super yummy looking, even if I skipped desert, turkey and the ham.

The Green Beans, though, are totally budget friendly, and open to a couple swaps. They really just had:

  • 1lb fresh whole green beans
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/3 C slivered almonds
  • dash curry powder
  • salt to taste
  • maybe some oil in the pan
You can almost definately swap out the golden raisins for normal ones, and green beans are regularly on sale here. It just all goes in a big pan together over medium to low heat until they're as cooked as you want them. I'm not sure if there was oil involved in the cooking. If there was it was a tiny bit. And tasty, too.

How did everyone else's weekend go?
