OBD 20- Pizza and Chili

Though not at the same time.

I am totally taking advantage of this whole "not on budget" thing to eat junk. Not great, but it tastes good. Intestines not so happy, but meh.

So yesterday I ate two cheap frozen pizzas for "breakfast". I just couldn't face oatmeal *or* chili that early in the day. Washed them down with more Nog, which was super tasty and I'm counting it as healthy, even though I know it isn't.

Didn't eat lunch at work. I was still full from the pizza, but also, I'm really not a fast eater. Scarfing down food in half an hour doesn't work for me. I end up feeling all slow and stuffed, and that's just not going to work. So I sipped soda and relaxed for lunch.

When I got home, though, it was all food. I heated about half the remaining chili and poured it over about a cup of (hot) rice. Mixed all up in the bowl it cut some of the spiciness, and made it at least twice as filling as the chili would have been by itself. Which is nice. Had some more Nog (only a little left, now) and a chocolate bar I picked up when I bought the pizzas, and then had to go *back* to the work thing for a couple hours.

Finally done with work for the night around 11, I got home, took off my shoes, reheated the last of the chili and most of the remaining rice, and scarfed it down while watching CSI.

I have no idea how anyone works and cooks for kids, and does who knows what else. The whole out of the house thing is exhausting to me, by the time I get home I'm pretty much dead. Now I need to figure out what I'm eating for the rest of this week, and come up with something appropriately festive for thanksgiving. I really have no idea...

  1. I'm way older than you so I'm really glad to hear that you find outside work exhausting...me too!! I thought it was my age so I feel better knowing it's not. How about some Tofurky for T-day?

  2. Hmmm, tofurky, I don't know. I think I'm invited to t-day dinner somewhere, but if I'm not I could always get in on the tofurky battle. I dunno, tho- I know quorn is a mushroom/ fungus based product, but I don't remember if tofurky is... it might be off the menu anyway.

I think some people really need the work thing. Once I'm there, I'm ok. Up to the minute of leaving the house? Ugh. And once I get back home, all I want to do is take off my shoes, lock myself in my room, and listen to music or read a book.

  3. Glad to see someone thinks of us fulltime working Moms. I would just like to say how much I love my girls but HATE mornings. Getting myself up and ready then getting them up, hair done, dressed and teeth brushed, I am exhausted by the time I get to work at 8:00-ish. Get off at 5:00 and pick them up at different schools. Fix supper and bath, then wrestle them into bed. Sometimes I do not sit down until their bedtime. It is chaos! I do have a husband but he works crazy hours so he is not that helpful. I am hoping to win the lottery!

  4. tiff- you dream of nannies, or just stay-at-home status? I dream of a housekeeper and a hot masseuse to follow me around. But yeah, I don't know how you do it. Not a clue.

  5. I dream more of work for myself doing some creative stuff and set my own schedule. That way I am free from an 8-5 grind. Hired help would be nice too. Maybe a housekeeper before a nanny. The household chores are constant!!

  7. Ah. That makes sense. I'm having trouble making time to do what i want to get done, and I only have me. I can see how it'd be tough to impossible to get creative stuff going while working and doing the mom thing.

Since santa doesn't love me and keeps forgetting to drop off winning lotto tickets (bad santa) I'll just have to live with what I can get. And someday maybe get someone in once a week to clean toilets.

Poor Alice. The 70's were not a good look for her...
